History of the Magdalene Laundries

The Goddess Pelé and The Haole Woman: Kilauea in Leilani Estates
In 2018, Rebecca McCarthy and her husband Tim Jeffryes lost a home to the Kilauea Lava Flow which devastated parts of the Big Island of Hawai'i. Maintaining an online journal, McCarthy document the ups, the downs, and the crazy lava river which took her home. Funny, poignant, and moving, McCarthy recounts her meeting with Pelé and how she learned to accept loss, respect nature, and worship Pelé as the giver of a new life.

McCarthy examines how Big Brother (The Telecommunications Act and corporations) inadvertently made little brother (all of us) and set the stage for a seamless and voluntary digital surveillance society.
